How to join
Black Halo runs on FiveM, a free multiplayer client for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V. Three steps, and only the last one is specific to us.

FiveM does not support consoles, and it does not work with the Xbox Game Pass copy of GTA V. You need a Rockstar, Steam or Epic Games copy on a Windows PC.
Three steps
From nothing to in the city
- 01
Own Grand Theft Auto V
A legitimate copy on PC, from Rockstar, Steam or the Epic Games Store. FiveM verifies it on launch. Console copies cannot connect — this is PC only.

Install FiveM
FiveM is the free multiplayer client that Black Halo runs on. Download it from the official site, run the installer, and let it patch once before you try to join.

Get whitelisted, then connect
Join the Discord and apply. Once you are approved, launch FiveM and connect — the button on this page will do it for you.
Connect
Three routes in, so one failing is not the end
Connection details are published in the Discord as soon as an application is approved. There is no direct-connect address on this page yet.
Whitelist
You have to be approved first
Black Halo is whitelisted. You cannot connect until an application has been read and approved by a staff member, and applications are handled in the Discord.
That is a slower door than most servers, and it is deliberate. Ten minutes of a staff member’s time is cheaper than a week of everyone else’s, cleaning up after someone who was never going to play in good faith.
The rules are what you are agreeing to when you apply, so they are worth reading first. Read the rules.
Troubleshooting
When it does not work
- The Play now button did nothing
- FiveM is not installed, or your browser blocked the fivem:// link. Install FiveM first, then use the console command or the Cfx.re server page.
- It says I am not whitelisted
- Your application has not been approved yet, or it was approved for a different Discord account than the one linked to your FiveM. Ask in the Discord.
- Stuck on the loading screen
- A first connection downloads the whole server resource pack and can take several minutes. If it has genuinely stalled, quit FiveM completely and reconnect — resuming is much faster.
- FiveM will not verify my copy of GTA V
- Launch GTA V on its own once and let it reach the main menu, then close it and start FiveM. Xbox Game Pass copies are not supported.
- Nobody can hear me
- Check that FiveM has microphone permission in Windows, and that the right input device is selected in the FiveM settings rather than in the GTA V settings.
- The server is full
- Wait and reconnect — the queue moves. Peak hours are the worst time to attempt a first connection.
FAQ
Common questions
- Is the server free to play?
- Yes. You need a legitimate PC copy of GTA V and the free FiveM client. Nothing on the store is required to play, and nothing sold there grants an in-game advantage.
- Do I need a good PC?
- If GTA V runs, FiveM runs — expect a little more load than singleplayer because of the extra players and scripts. An SSD makes the biggest difference to how long you wait at the loading screen.
- Why is the server whitelisted?
- Because reading an application takes a staff member ten minutes, and undoing the damage one bad-faith player does to a scene takes everyone else a week.
- Can I play on console or on Xbox Game Pass?
- No. FiveM requires a PC copy of GTA V and does not support console. Game Pass PC copies are not supported by FiveM either — it needs Rockstar, Steam or Epic.
- Do I need a microphone?
- Yes. Roleplay here is spoken, and in-character voice is how nearly everything happens. Any headset microphone is fine.
- I have never roleplayed before. Is that a problem?
- No. Not knowing the conventions is fine and fixable; refusing to learn them is not. Read the rules, stay in character, and ask questions in Discord rather than in the city.
