The agreement

Rules

Every rule here has a number. Staff cite that number when they act on something, and it links straight to the rule so you can read exactly what was meant.

01

General conduct

The rules that apply to you as a person, not to your character.

  • 1.1

    Play in good faith

Every other rule is a specific case of this one. If you are looking for the wording that technically permits what you are about to do, you already know the answer.

  • 1.2

No harassment, hate speech or discrimination

Slurs, targeted abuse, and bigotry of any kind are not roleplay and are not defensible as a character choice. This applies in the city, in Discord, and anywhere the community gathers.

  • 1.3

No cheating, exploiting or third-party tools

Modified clients, menus, macros and injectors are an instant permanent ban. If you find a bug that gives you an advantage, report it instead of using it — using it once is exploiting.

  • 1.4

    One account per person

Alternate accounts used to evade a ban, a queue or a consequence are treated as ban evasion and extend the original penalty.

  • 1.5

Staff decisions are final in the moment

Arguing with a staff member mid-scene helps nobody. Comply, then appeal afterwards through the proper channel. Appeals are read; in-scene arguments are not.

  • 1.6

You must be 18 or older

This is an adult community with adult themes. Misrepresenting your age is grounds for a permanent ban.

02

Roleplay standards

How scenes are expected to run.

  • 2.1

    Stay in character

Break character only for a genuine emergency or when instructed by staff. Use Discord for out-of-character conversation, not the city.

  • 2.2

    No metagaming

Information your character has not learned in character does not exist to them. Streams, Discord, and what you heard while spectating are all out of character.

  • 2.3

    No powergaming

Do not force an outcome on another player or give your character abilities, equipment or knowledge they have no way to have. Give people a chance to react.

  • 2.4

    Value your life

Your character wants to survive. Behave like someone who has a gun pointed at them actually would, and do not treat death as a respawn button.

  • 2.5

    Fear roleplay applies to everyone

Being armed does not make you fearless, and neither does being police. A credible threat gets a credible reaction.

  • 2.6

    New life rule

After your character is downed and respawns, they do not remember the events that led to their death and may not return to that scene or seek revenge for it.

  • 2.7

Do not break a scene by logging out

Combat logging — disconnecting to escape a consequence — is treated as if the outcome had gone against you, and repeat offences are a ban.

03

Characters

Who you are allowed to be.

  • 3.1

    Realistic names

Your character needs a name a real person could have. Celebrity names, joke names and single-word names will be changed for you.

  • 3.2

    Characters are separate people

What one of your characters knows, the others do not. Moving assets, information or grudges between your own characters is metagaming.

  • 3.3

    Your character can lose

A character who never fails, never gets caught and never suffers is not a character, they are a wish. Loss is where the story is.

04

Criminal roleplay

Crime is encouraged. Being a nuisance is not.

  • 4.1

    Crime needs a reason

Robbery, violence and kidnapping all need in-character motivation and build-up. Walking up to a stranger and demanding their possessions with no context is not roleplay.

  • 4.2

    No random deathmatch

You may not attack another player without significant prior interaction and a clear in-character reason. This is the most commonly cited rule on the server.

  • 4.3

    No vehicle deathmatch

A car is not a weapon of first resort. Repeatedly ramming players, or using a vehicle to win a firefight, is not acceptable.

  • 4.4

    Hostages are people, not shields

If you take a hostage you take on their scene too. Give them something to do, and release or resolve the situation rather than abandoning it.

  • 4.5

    Group size limits apply

Large-scale crime has a cap on how many players may take part, so that scenes stay playable for the other side. Check the current limit before you plan.

  • 4.6

    No robbing new arrivals

Someone who has just landed in the city with nothing is not a target. Let people build something before you take it.

05

Police, EMS and government

Rules for the people wearing a badge or carrying a defibrillator.

  • 5.1

    Emergency roles are a responsibility

Police and EMS are held to a higher standard than civilians, not a lower one. Corruption roleplay requires prior approval from department leadership.

  • 5.2

    Escalate proportionately

Force answers force. Reaching for a firearm at a traffic stop is not proportionate, and neither is executing a surrendered suspect.

  • 5.3

    EMS are neutral

Medical staff treat everyone, are not to be taken hostage as a tactic, and do not pass information to police as a matter of routine.

  • 5.4

Stay on duty, or go off it

Do not use department equipment, vehicles or information while off duty, and do not go off duty to escape a scene you are in.

06

Gangs and factions

Organised groups, and the extra weight they carry.

  • 6.1

    Factions are registered

Organised groups need to be recognised by staff before operating as one. An unregistered group claiming territory is just a large crime.

  • 6.2

    Conflict needs a story

Wars between factions need an in-character cause, and they need to be able to end. A conflict that exists only to justify shooting is not one.

  • 6.3

No out-of-character coordination in a scene

Do not use Discord, party chat or any external voice to coordinate during an active scene. Everything your group knows, it learned in the city.

07

Vehicles and driving

Drive like the car is real and yours.

  • 7.1

    Drive realistically

No cross-country driving to escape, no impossible stunts, and no treating a saloon car like a rally machine. Damage should change how you drive.

  • 7.2

    Chases end

A pursuit is a scene with a conclusion, not an endurance test. Both sides are expected to let it resolve rather than driving in circles.

  • 7.3

    Vehicles have owners

Stealing a car is roleplay. Making it vanish permanently because it is inconvenient to return is not.

08

Community and Discord

The rules that follow you out of the city.

  • 8.1

    Discord rules are server rules

Everything in section 1 applies in Discord exactly as it applies in the city. A ban in one is a ban in both.

  • 8.2

    No drama-mongering

Take disputes to a ticket, not to a public channel. Public pile-ons are treated as harassment regardless of who was originally right.

  • 8.3

Clips and streams are your responsibility

You may stream and clip freely. You may not use footage to harass another player, and you may not use what you saw on someone else’s stream in character.

  • 8.4

    No advertising other servers

Recruiting for another community inside this one, in the city or in Discord, is a permanent ban.

Rule 1.1 is the one that matters. Everything else is a worked example of it, and nothing in this document should be read as a list of loopholes.
